Júlia Káčerová is a young sculptor whose work explores the tension between solidity and fragility. She operates at the intersection of geometric and organic forms that evoke nests, embryonic or structural shapes - symbols of protection and birth. Her works are meditations on permanence and loss, decay, but also renewal. She often uses natural materials, which largely determine the final form of the sculpture or object.
For the artist, the very process of creation is a dialogue with the possibilities of matter and space - a search for internal order and functional structure while maintaining a certain degree of openness to transformation. This approach can be seen in line with a philosophy that emphasizes the interconnectedness of various forms of life, both material and immaterial, and the fluidity of identities and relationships. Texture, relief, and the dynamics of material change over time are an essential part of the work, which is at once stable and fluid, open to gradual transformation.
*JÚLIA KÁČEROVÁ (2000) focuses on creating site-specific installations and experimental sculptures using natural materials. Her work reflects the relationship between humans, nature, and space, balancing stability and fluidity, organic and geometric forms. From 2015 to 2019, she studied Applied Art and Design at the Josef Vydra School of Applied Arts in Bratislava. In 2019/20, she attended the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, specializing in Scenography for Alternative and Puppet Theatre. In 2022/23, she participated in a study exchange at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts – École supérieure des Arts in Brussels. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, in the Studio of Free Sculpture under Mgr. art. Štefan Papčo, ArtD. and Mgr. art. Matej Gavula. She has exhibited in several group and solo exhibitions (MARA 50 / The Surface of the Horizon – The Horizon of the Surface, P. M. Bohúň Gallery, Liptovský Mikuláš, 2025; Sculpture in the City X: I Want to Hear How the Dust Settles, Turiec Gallery, Martin, 2025; Nests, solo exhibition, Old Town Gallery Zichy, Bratislava, 2024; Bratislava Design Week, Zoya Gallery, Bratislava, 2020, among others). Júlia at prehistoricsoul LAB
During her residency in November, Júlia will focus on creating a site-responsive sculptural work using locally sourced, natural materials. Her process includes the surrounding environment, allowing the work to emerge organically from the place itself. Alongside the sculptural practice, she will keep brief notes, poems, and drawings as part of her daily reflections.
